Welcome to the News Page of the Puckeridge Hunt Pony Club On this page you should find recent news about PHPC. Essex Rider team Challenge by Sandie Gibbs Well what a to do. The original date of the 21st December was cancelled due to heavy snow, so my original team, which took quite a bit of organising because of the time of year were put on hold until the revised date of 17th January. A couple of team changes later and we were all set to go and guess what, MORE SNOW. Never mind we all thought and the date was hastily re-arranged for the 21st February. Oh no, because it was half term we had to revise our team sheet again and keep our fingers crossed that the snow would hold off (it did but only just ) and away we went. Unfortunately as I was at a Triathalon with Nathan , please see other report , I had to hand over the reins to the experienced and multi talented Elaine Fisher, a veteran of every team challenge we have been to so I knew all would be well. But not how well !!!!! Anyway back to the team who consisted of experienced old campaigners in Tabitha Northover and Kirsty Fisher and the new kids on the block Finlay Atherton and Hope Archer who were making their team debuts. Both Kirsty and Tabitha were placed in the warm up class which always bodes well and the other two used the warm up round to gain experience in the quite daunting indoor school at Towerlands. The first round was fantastic with the team finishing on a zero score, along with a few other teams but as we always say the second round changes everything. Not for us however and we also finished the second round on a zero score and were in the jump off for the title. We were in this position last year and came a good second so the pressure was on to improve on that and guess what THEY DID IT. Each rider went clear in the jump off and we couldn’t be beaten. Puckeridge Hunt Pony club are the winners, it seemed to good to be true but a couple of sashes and rosettes later and a rather lovely trophy , one to keep and one to be returned next year brought it home to the team, what a fantastic performance and a great start to the year for our club. I believe 5th in the tack and turnout as well (phew or Alana would be after us !) Obviously thanks go to the parents who supported our riders and especially Elaine who took on the arduous task of organising everyone.
